Can I go Synthetic?????
Just got my truck, well about 6 months ago, I'm now on my second oil change. I've heard a lot people say that without knowing the history of the previous oil changes, that I cannot go with a synthetic. Truck just turned 80,000 miles. I was told that if the whole engiine block was flushed out synthetic would not be a problem w/ my mileage. Can I go synthetic or will it harm the engine? Also, is a sythetic blend an option with this mileage?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes you can, however synthetic tends to clean the engine after time and you may get oil leaks that were clogged with crud beforehand.(though these newer Fords don't tend to have leaking problems, so you should be fine there.) I say if you plan on driving it till it dies to start using synthetic, it will not damage anything, and you may have less engine problems in the future. If you don't plan on having it more than a few years, than it isnt really worth it, imho.
