Over the past month the check engine light came on, scanned code 401 EGR , instead of cleaning I just replaced it. check engine light came back on again( yes the code was cleared). same code was told to replace EGR valve sensor. Check light again last night. Any thoughts, pipe clogged? Also some times if your at a stop, hit the gas to go then hit brake to stop real quick engine almost stalls.

 

You got taken by the simple "EGR" associated with the code.
A deeper investigation would have shown the code says insufficent flow detected.
Carbon blocking and accumulation is the more likley fault.
