Hmmm, spell check must be on the fritz. Just for the record, my mom bought a Tempo in 84 and in the 5 years she had it, that car only went in on the hook once. Thirty minutes and a new TFI module later, and good to go.

Funny story here: Some clown in an 81 Challenger came up against me at a light and we went for it. Nine minutes and eighteen miles later, we both pulled over. No BS, we averaged 120 MPH, with a peak of 135. That little Tempo was screamin' the whole time, but never flinched.

If you want a vehicle that will never break down, consider a Honda Accord. If you want to walk away from an accident, drive a big truck. Your choice, body shop or rhinoplasty. Have fun!

Have fun with your Avalanche. Go deal with the injector, transmission and suspension issues that those have... Maybe you should have found message forums for the Chevy before you bought it...

I'll share my happy Ford stories...

Growing up my family had a 1970 F250. It had 230K miles on the 360 when we finally traded it for a new truck in 1984. The only engine work that we had done was to replace the timing chain at about 175K miles. And we ran nothing but Pennzoil.

My wife got a 1986 Mustang LX with a 3.8 new when she was 18. We sold the car in 1998 with 180K miles on it. The person that bought it was a friend and he gave it to his niece. Last time I talked to him it was still running strong at over 250K miles with the stock engine and trans and no work other than routine maintenance.

I bought a 4x4 Ranger with a 4.0 new in 1995. I traded it for my F150 last July (I needed something bigger for the family). It had 155K miles and ran flawlessly. The only problem I ever had was the water pump started leaking shortly after I purchased it and it was replaced under warranty. It still had that same water pump when I traded it. I changed nothing other than typical maintenance items (plugs, brakes, oil,etc...). It even still had the stock clutch.

Tell me again about problems with Fords? I know no one that has had a string of GM, Chrysler, or any other make of car that comes close to my experience with Fords.

I'll be the second with good ford stories. I have a '93 F-150 XLT with a 300ci 6 cyl engine. The worst thing to happen to that truck was the altenator went out. It has 119,500 miles and is still goin strong. That enging doesn't skip a beat.

Good luck with your chevy.....All trucks have their flaws and you happened to get a lemon. Sry bout the experience.

Btw, I love that engine, that thing's almost indestructable...knock on wood.

I see where you're coming from and I agree with everyone else here, the other manufactuers have their difficulties. I have an 02 F-150 with the V-6 stock and its a GREAT truck. Change the oil as required and such. Just today the "Service Engine Soon" light came on so we'll see if I fall into the same "vortex" that other have fallen.

Good luck with your next vehicle..... My Brother digs chevy's, but his IQ is much lower!!!

i have a thread called missfire problem goes unsolved for a year..and i have insufficient egr flow on the obdII..
hmm...your EGR ports in your throttle body wouldnt be clogged would they? Or perhaps a bad vaccum/electrical connection??

You got a lemon, dont thinkthat these are bad trucks. When you start thinking that these are bad trucks, go into the thread with guys who have 200, sometimes 300,000 on a stock motor/tranny with minimal problems....

I'm really suprised that the moderators let this rant stay in the engines section. They need to make a special section for guys like randy that fills his puter with spy ware, and maybe a worm or two every time they start bashing on message boards that are here for Ford truck enthusiasts...Kevin

Randy and my self, as well as othier F-150 owners have had issues, all is not peach's and cream in Ford land. Loyality only takes a brand off the car lot, build quality and owners preventative maintance determine Fords life span with the F-150.

As a previous F-150 owner, a 97, 02 and 04, Ford has a lot going on with the F-150 that is hidden from the consumer, Truth abought trucks' video means nothing, no mention of the 2ply hancook P rated tires that are standard on the F-150, I have no faith in Ford.

To say every GM, Dodge or Ford is bound to have a few Lemons when you own a picture perfect truck is a cop out for those who have legit issues with thier trucks.

On the Dodge, Titan, Chevy Forms, owners have praise and disdane for thier model of truck's, Thier is no perfect truck out thier, you have to be a educated consumer and reserch the truck that suit's your needs, than you hope to hell you get a good one.

My chevy astro van started knocking (like noisy lifters) at 65k, not to mentin the a/c fritzing out at 50k, the abs module fritzing out at 32k, the seat adjustment for lumbar falling off at 26k, the armrest on the door cracking at 24k... and more... Before that I drove an '85 S-10 (2 motors, 3 tranny's and an A/C blower motor and compressor, powersteering pump, carb, water pump, starter, 2 radiators -replaced) and a '92 S-10 Blazer (tranny, 2 radiators, heater core, A/C blower motor, ABS module, fuel pump -replaced)

It's why I came back to my childhood roots, and my work truck roots... back to the big blue oval. My dad had Econolines with 351 Windsor's in them... drove the snot out of them 250k+ & 300k+ (only had 2 because one was stolen). Minor problems only... a radiator in one... small stuff.

Then my dad had a lemon '88 Aerostar... that year was known for "bugs." He still got 150k+ out of engine number 1, and another 239k+ on the second engine before he sold it. He had a '95 Aerostar that got well over 284k+ on the odo with zero problems before he gave it to a couple that needed it (elderly/handicapped) for a chair lift...

I did the Chevy thang. No more. And to think, I found a Ford F-150 video online while researching an Avalanche!! Thank goodness for "The Truth About Trucks!"

(My wife drives a Chevy Aveo still for a commuter car, but let's face it, the Aveo is a Daewoo Kalos with US branding. )

This is very true. Out of all the F-150's i've owned this new one is by far the worse. I think that if I could get my old 03 back without getting screwed I would take the deal. It’s really nice to pull-up to the gas station and fill the tank from half full and then to have your truck not start. And have to love the delayed response in the accelerator. What does service department say. Sorry can’t reproduce the problem so it’s good to go. I have owned nothing but Fords since my 76 mustang II with a 302. And for all you guys that are bashing this guy get a life. Ford is a great truck and has always been the best. But you know you would be just as pissed, as he is if you were getting the run around. If you have never had that happen at the stealership then you must be doing all your own maintenance on your truck.

This is just my .02 but hey what i know.
