racing cam??

i have a 98 f150 with a 4.6 ltr
it needs new head gaskets and while its being done there going to replace the knock sencor.
So is it possible while the engine is being worked on,to put some racing cams in?? i really love the sound of a good cam at a stop lite. mite give me some hp. i also have single 3" exhaust pipe all the way out with a V-Force muffler. sounds really throaty.
and a hypertech programmer.

what you guys think of the racing cam or what kind should i get the shop to intall. i dont really haul or pull stuff so dont need a rv cam(s) or do i? really want to hear the cam perform.

get a mid rang cam just so it doesnt rape ur fuel and so u dont have to upgrad Maf and injectors. also if u upgrade cam u might have to get different lifters... cam jobs on modular engines arent easy.... but u do get alot out of em

Crower has several grinds for those engines. Contrary to what was posted prior, you do NOT get much out of them. Don't get me wrong, you will see an increase in performance, but unless you are making other significant changes (intake, increase compression, injectors, MAF, etc...) then a big cam will hurt more than it helps. Since you are simply referring to a "racing" cam and aren't talking about any lift and duration specs, then you should probably leave the selection of which one to run to an expert. Call a cam manufacturer and tell them what you want to do with your truck and they'll tell you what to run. After installing a cam, forget the Hypertech and go with a fully programmable Superchips with a custom tune from Troyer.

yeh thats what i meant when u upgrade cam u will want to upgrade computer/maf/injectors and intake along with it or u wont see any gain. and it wont run good without all the other stuff
