Exclamation timing (help)

hello everybody!
Im having some trouble with my 91 f150. Its got a 302ci 5.0 Liter, 2wd (i know, what kind of guy buys a 2wd truck). Ive been reading up on my truck and on the truck itself, under the hood, it says that I should set my timing to 10 degrees before top dead center, it also says this on all data. I know people alter their timing a lot to enhance performance, tweak gas milage, and other stuff, i was just wondering what everybody else is doing, and maybe some suggestions on what to set it at. if you guys could help me, that would be awesome.
Thanks a lot for everything!

I dont think anyone will flame a 2wd.. I can't LOL

Timing varies from one application to another 10 degrees is the recomended starting point. But each engine can vary depending on several things including but not limited to. Engine wear (ie timing chain slack, cam wear, etc.) also driving style, driving conditions, altitude, climate, and many many others. Best thing to do is just play with it until it feels right to you. thats just my 2 cents worth.

14* is about max, but keep adjusting it till it pings and then back it off a bit.
