A miss at all speeds could be something common like the crank position sensor. This will affect all the cylinders.
There is a pickup in the sensor housing.
Were tryin, man.

hey bluegrass,

how much are those crank position sensors? and, where exactly are they located at? i think i might try that first before spending all the money to get now ones to replace the junk autozone coils. i know i need a new fuel filter, but that wouldn't give a misfire feeling like this would it?
thanks,
steve

Hey ford-man-steve,

I know its already been said here but don't use aftermarket plugs, especially the bosch platinum. They are great plugs but the top shaft of the plug is larger in diameter than the stock ones. This won't cause an immediate problem but over time the plug boot stretches allowing moisture to enter into the boot. The moisture, over time, will cause the coil to burn out. (trust me, I know from experience)

Hope this helps,
FStrike

Not that I'm by any means an expert at this considering I cant find my own plugs. But I'm having the same problem.
After going to my local ford dealer, they informed me that when these trucks 1st came out the check eng light was coming on for just about anything due to mis fires. So they were instructed to adjust this to suit.
My light never came on either, after watching the service dept, they basically did a power break with my truck, and poof the light came on. (Cost me $200.00) who wouldve thought?

because i'm a cheap skate can someone explain to me just wear these plugs are?

Is there any truth to this? My check engine never comes on either (except at start up) and it's driven me to my wits end at times. It's good though because now I've gained a lot of experience and have been all over my truck reading voltage and resistance.

well, the truck is still misfiring, but ia m going to buy new coils to replace the autozone junk, so we will see if that solves the problem. and still, no check engine light. that is what's frustrating me. i'll let you all know what happens.

Problem solved

well guys, the problem is fixed. no more misfiring. you know, the funny thing is that i went out and bought five new coil packs to replace the wells (autozone) junk coil packs. i have been kept in the dark by my truck, because it has been misfiring for like 2 or three months now with no service engine soon light. well, the day i bought new coils is the day the engine light went on. it turns out that cylinders 7 and 4 were misfiring. that makes three bad coil packs that i bought from autozone. the lesson i learned is to stay away from Wells ignition parts from autozone. The tru-tech ones from auto-aid are much better, or if you can afford it, go with motorcraft. anyways, i just wanted to let you all know that the problem is fixed. thanks for all the help and input.
