24 Valve or 16 that is the question

How can I tell if my '04 FX-4 engine is the 24 valve model or the 16? I have been told that Ford changed production to the 24 valve about midway thru the '04 production year. Any truth to that ? Thanks. THE DOG

All 04 5.4 engines have the new three valve heads, 4.6 engines still have two valve heads.

Doesn't it depend on if it is the Heritage model or the new body style?Heritage still had 2V, new style had 3V I think.
