Service Engine Light

I noticed the light came on in my truck the other day and I used my Superchips programmer to look up the DTC codes. Which I got the following.

P1100 MAF Sensor Intermittent
P0316 - Engine Misfire
P0171 - Sys to Lean (Bank1)
P0174 - Sys to Lean (Bank 2)

This info off Superchips website for Ford vehicles

While driving it the engine cut off but restarted right away. Si I figured the fuel filter needed to be changed. Once I changed the filter I noticed black residue and the filter was clogged. So I cleared the DTC codes and the light went off. So the next morning the light went on after a few miles and I recieved the same codes. The other thing I noticed it seems a little choppy with in idle at about 500RPM.

Its a Ford Supercrew 03 with 4.6L 41K miles

Could it be the fuelpump going out?

do a serch on how to clean maf sensors its very easy... all u need is a screw drive and electrical contact cleaner. DONT touch the wires on the maf i learned the hard way ... they break fast... just spray the he// outta them! also check your o2 sensors (upstream)

Your upstream O2 sensors are likely not faulty. (P0171 & P0174)

Check for a vacuum leak. That PCV hose elbow is a common source, but on an 03 would be less likely for it to have failed already.

That MAF code could be the result of suspected vacuum leak. Alternatively, a faulty MAF output will screw up the A/F trim and could be the cause of the "lean but corrected rich" codes.

The P1100 indicates that the PCM saw an output voltage from the MAF that abruptly went outside the expected range of voltages. Using your scan tool, access the MAF V PID. Monitor it while wiggling the MAF harness and connector and while gently tapping on the sensor. Possible causes include an intermittent electrical connection in the wiring or possibly a sensor with either an intermittent internal open or short.

The basic rule is to focus on the first code that the scanner outputs. There is a hierarchy of codes which can result in multiple codes from a single fault. Clear the first fault, reset the computer, and rerun the diagnostic tests to see if any additional codes return.

If the maf is faulty, you will get the lean codes. The p0316 is a misfire on startup. Check for any vacuum leaks, but most likely a bad maf.

But even if I have a faulty MAF or vacuum leak will that cause the truck to run poorly where it idles like at 500 rpm. Feels like it wants to stall. I know just recently I switch out the factory air intake with a airraid intake could the MAF went bad?

If so should I just buy a factory MAF or is there one someone wants to recommend?

Thanks for everyones help
