Did you check the Fuel Pressure? Im sure you know a weak fuel pumps symptoms, but a bad Fuel Pressure Regulator can do some really wierd eratic and unpredictable stuff.

91 right? Those have a control module on the base of the distributor I think. If you have done the tuneup and everything else checks out I would look there. My mom had a ford LTD that that thing went bad on. It would run fine till it warmed up then it would run like it was on 2.5 cylinders or something. It was bad. Took us forever to figure out what it was. It was an expensive little devil though as I remember. Might want to get some more imput. I read the last post on the other board you linked and they said something about the code being for a air intake sensor. I'm not sure but that could cause weird things to happen as well.

Some thoughts

When it is acting up, have you pulled over and unplugged the vac. to the EGR valve to see if that helps it?

Right on. If you are getting insufficient flow code, chances are that what is reading the flow is malfunctioning (since you have replaced the EGR) and therefor over compensating by sucking the EGR down more then it should.

Don't forget that the truck determines EGR flow using the EGR position sensor bolted to the top of it.

If that sensor isn't giving the computer the correct numbers it would give that code also.
