no start

I HAVE A FORD F-150 (1991) EXTENDEDCAB.
MY PROBLEMB IS THAT WHEN I TRY TO START IT IT DOES NOTHING BUT "CLICK". I REPLACED THE STARTER , STILL THE SAME , BRAND NEW BATTERY , EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE . RECENT AND PAST STARTER PROBLEBS WERE THAT IT WILL "CLICK" WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT AND EVENTUALLY IT STARTS , NOT ANNYMORE ! COULD I BE HAVEING IGNITION PROBLEMBS? WHEN I AM UNDER THE HOOD I CAN HEAR THE CLICKING SOUND BUT ENGINE DOESENT TURN OVER AT ALL. LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS DRIVEING IT TO THE STORE AND IT WORKED FINE , THEN GOT BACK IN IT AND NUTHIN ! LOL
SOULD THIS BE IN THE STEARING COLOUM ? (IGNITION)?
I APRECIATE ANNY COMMENTS. THIS TRUCK HAS WORKED WONDERFULLY SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT NEW , HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF .ALSO HAD THE OLD STARTER TESTED , IT WORKS OK . THANKS AGAIN

From: ....I could be anywhere....
(theres no need to yell)...you mentioned everything but the solenoid..did you replace that too?..also make sure the battery ground cable is still grounded....take the cable end off the block or manifold or wherever its located and make sure its clean bare metal you're tightining the ground too...a bad ground is a major culprit of the dreaded "click click" you hear..(i had a F-250 that had a 460 in it same thing would happen..not from a bad ground..460's were notorious for the starters getting loose so make sure the starter is tight too)...zap!

the cylinoid has been tested and is working properly , a mechanic told me that one of my flywheels might be frozen up , also said that the testing equipment may show it to work free from the block , however once on , its a diffrent story. sound familliar?

My first guess was the silenoid too. The only way I know to test the silenoid is turn the key on and jump across the post. If it starts then it is the silenoid! My wifes Explorer goes out once or twice a year... $27 at Orielly's Auto parts and less than 10 mins including getting the whopping 2 sockets that you will need to change it...

You will be glad it is a Ford!
Because Fords are on the inner fender close to the battery VERY easy to get to. While everyone else's is on the starter and ussally on top of the starter so you have to lie underneath the vehicle and take the starter out to change their Silenoids...
To other makers owners who have to change thiers, we say "NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH!"

Good deal..glad it's going and was an easy fix...

Here is a tip:
I put a push on starter switch off an old international truck and wired it to each side of the silenoid under my wifes hood " because it does go out often" So when it does she can just turn on the key, pop the hood, and push the silenoid by pass button to get it started and get her home.
It always scares her to jump it with a screw driver or pliers or anything... heck it does me too... I always have to do it twice because the first time I jump and loose connection... LOL
