has power, won't start
I am looking for some help. 1990 F150 has power when you turn key but makes absolutely no effort to start, in fact no noise at all. I'm thinking this is the starter. Any help as to what it could be would be great. Thanks.
Start by sliding under the truck on the passenger side from the front and look up at 1 O'Clock and grab and shake the thick red wire attached to the starter solenoid. This is most likely your problem. I just fixed 2 on 2 other F-150's. If all you get is a click at the firewall its the connector at the end of the red line at the started solenoid, cut the wire replace with replacement clip or replace red wire up to battery. Good luck. Its a simple fix.
