E150 Spark Plug Acces
E150 Spark Plug Acces
I need Ford Van tip if anyone has experience.
I changed 6 on my 8 plugs today. I accessed the 6 plugs I have changed by removing the interior engine cover. I need to get to the 2 on the forward right of the engine (#3 and #4). They are angled forward on the right (back on the left) and I cannot get to them from the interior access because they are to far forward and the space between the head and access hole is to tight. Plus I have two 1-inch hoses right at the edge of the access hole. I tried to get my smallest ratchet in the space between the head and opening and could not. Special tool?
I thought I could access the 3 and 4 plug thru the wheel well by removing a panel (like my explorer). The wheel well is all structure. Do I have to pull the alternator?
Any experienced help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Bill

What year is your van? I had to do the plugs on my wife's V10 one ton(three hours) and had to loosen wiring harness clamps and tie up heater hose out of the way to gain access. Judging by your post, I assume you have a pre 97 van. You may have to remove the wheel and go up from the side, or possibly from underneath as Zap mentioned. On the Triton motors you have to go straight down from the top, but they are not any easier, trust me.
