got in truck this morning, it drove fine for about 3 or 4 minutes then it dies, will not idle, once you are going, it will run, then when you stop or slowdown it stalls. if i disconect the mass air flow it will idel but it will surge.

just to throw a curve at it, it has a vortech s/c so i suspect it is either the mass air flow or the add on modular that connects to the mass air flow wiring. or i could be looking in the wrong place

I would be suspecting the idle air bypass valve or wiring to it. sounds as though the valve is stuck try tapping on it you can also remove it and clean it. Other possabilities are TPS or stuckopen EGR valve. most likeky is idle air also check air cleaner and pcv valve.

 

you are probalby right, i had the air bypass problem with my 97 and it would happen in cold weather and be ok once the truck warmed up, tried tapping on it, no change, but that dosent mean anything.
i have to go out of town tomorrow so i will have to drive my brothers Hemi, first real problem with the truck and i just turned 80k so i expected something to happen.
