Unhappy motor pinging

I need help in finding out what is going on iin my motor. I have a 5.4 v8 99model f150 4x4 and when the motor is slightly cool the passenger side of the motor kind of near the valve cover makes a pinging noise. Sounds like the lifters are sticking or something, but shortly after its been run it goes away. The mech shop doesnt know what it is it is fine on motor oil. Anybody else have this same problem??? Thanks for any help!! Fuzzy3338@hotmail.com

those are your lifters ticking i think all of ours do them when they have wear on em but as long as its goes away i wouldnt worry about it. mine have been ticken for like 5 years but only when its cold.

Could be a noisy fuel injector or injectors. Lots of people have reported that over the years. They don't seem to fail or cause problems besides the noise on cold starts.
