tries to stall when i tap the gas

I have a 1992 F150 with a straight six 300 with 162000 miles on it, manual tranny. For some reason, especially at first startups and when its cold, i tap the gas and it acts like its going to stall but does all the way. i can tap it several times and it does the same thing, if i push the throttle it goes fine, but just a little tap or lettin clutch out and some throttle, it does the semi-stall thing. Any ideas of how to fix this, any prior problems guys? thanks Curt

I love fords!

could be vacuum leaks, plugged filters, low fuel pressure, bad TP sensor, maf sensor, etc. Check out some of these to narrow it down and repost. Too many possibilities.

I have a 91 300 that did the same exact thing. Cleaning the TB plate and IAC valve completely cured the problem.
