Million miles on an '86!

This is unbelievable.....

My dad got a free issue of My Ford from a local dealer. They ran an article in the Winter '05 issue about this guy from Garysburg, NC who now has 1.2 million miles on his truck! He drives 360 miles a day for work. I thought that the Engines forum was appropriate for the thread. Unbelievable. Granted, it's in print....but the pic of this guy with his truck just fits for some reason. I will try to type out the 1-page interview tomorrow. It's almost bedtime.

Now I have a new goal. Lots of oil changes.

Wow....wonder how many motors/trannys/every other part on that truck he's been through. Im surprised a truck would hold up that long....

Get that 98 F-150 on ebay a couple weeks ago that has 550,000 on it, youll be almost half-way there

What Cab-drivers do

I've been in some high-mileage cabs recently. The other week I got into a 2002 Crown Victoria with 268,000 (original motor and trans). The driver's secret: Oil changes every other week, he changed the trans fluid at 100k and hasn't touched it (and won't touch it) again.

I am reading the page now, and according to the owner of the truck, he changes the oil every 4,000 miles, rarely drives above the speed limit and changes the antifreeze every two years.

All he said he has replaced is one distributor, three alternators, three starters and at 500,000 miles, the timing chain.

I hope my truck lasts that long too. Just figured out my tax return numbers, and I think I am going to finally order my Flowmaster!
