4.2L engine questions

Ok, i recently found out that my truck, 1997 F150, had a intake manifold gasket failure, which allowed coolant into the engine.. well apparently, this was a big thing, and ford did some ONP stuff for it.. well.. since i am the 2nd owner of this truck, im wondering, is there anything i can do.. to see if the work was done originally.. or not..

Also, i have done work on older engines before.. like old 350's and everything.. but never done any engine work to a newer engine.. i have replaced a Honda motor.. but that was a complete change.. same engine.. never got into it..

I think this intake gasket replacement wouldnt be that bad.. only thing i am worried about.. is wiring.. and stuff..

any other things i should worry about..

What does "ONP" stand for?
If the lower intake gaskets were replaced, they will be of a white color instead of the old yellow color.Just look at where the lower intake manifold mates to the heads to see the gasket.Oh,and the new gaskets are thicker then the old gaskets.
If you want to replace them, just buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual and follow the directions. There are pictures too. Good luck and keep us posted!

The gaskets will both be black if they were replaced at a Ford dealer. The problem gaskets were black on the driver's side and the neutral(or white/yellow color) on the passenger side. The only thing to be careful of when changing the gaskets are the IMRC vacuum diaphrams on the rear of the intake. I suggest replacing the plastic bushings at the same time. Dealers have them in stock. About six bucks apiece, though.
