I've have been told not to use the Granatelli MAF in my 1999 F-150, 5.4 Litre. They told me it causes the check engine light to show up. They also told me to use a MAF from a 1999 Lightning. Can anybody tell me if they have tried this? Thank you.

 

i had the Granatelli MAF for a year and i upgraded to a ford motersports 90mm maf like the lightnings, had no problems with the Granatelli, the 90mm reequires a difrent tune, if you just throw a lighning Maf on there your check engine light will come on you have to get it tuned for it

 

The way I understand it the MAF has to be "tuned" based on your injector size. when I switch from stock to 24lb injectors I bought a new 90mm MAF programmed to match. When I changed to 42lb injectors I had to send the MAF back to its factory to be re-programmed to match the 42lb'ers.

Will the Diablo Sport reprogrammer or the one from Troyer Performance take care of the tune if I opt for the 90mm for the Lightning, or will I have to do something different.

 

Yes those reprogrammers will work, just make sure that they are custom tuned for the correct maf and injector sizes.

Also, the 90mm lightning maf would be a 2001 or later. The earlier models were 80mm (i believe).
