Keep some in a spray bottle and spray all your windows.

Most windshield washers have de-icer in it. Keeps it from freezing.

Thermostat will not work in this case as already stated above.

I would be suprised as hell if the max air thing did any extra pre-heating of the cab and likely only slows any heating of the engine itself.

a block heater is are the best way to achieve your goal.

All I do in the morning, and this is for temps down to -20F, is run out in the morning about 15 minutes before leaving and start the thing. I set the heat selector on defrost, high heat, and blower on the third setting out of four to help not hinder the motor warm-up as much. This works well enough to defrost the windows and warm the cab up slightly. A half mile down the road on the floor/windwhield setting and the cab is usually warmed up the rest of the way. Anything under -20F and I'm plugging in, which still requires the 15 minute warmup at those temps.

This is where a remote start system pays off big time. Just remember to leave the **** in the defroster position and the fan on high. It really takes the chill off the leather seats and all ice and snow just melt off....... no scraping. I gotta hook up some heated mirrors and I'll be set.

Good luck.

The other thing I do, when I don't have the 15 minutes, is sit there with RPM's at about 3000 till it's warm, takes only a couple minutes like that. That in combination with spraying windshield washer/de-icer on it once it starts melting.

AND, it doesn't matter if you start it by turning the key, or pressing a button on you keychain, it's going to take the same amount of time to get warm.
