It all depends on preference and experience. We have 2 new 5.3L Chevy's and 6 - 2000 and newer Fords for work trucks and the 2 Chevy's have caused nothing but grief. From fuel pumps going on both to interior rattles it seems there is always something wrong with them. As for the 350 Chevy being the best engine......for the simplicity of it, yes but IMO give me a HO fuel injected 302 from the 86-95 Mustang over a 350 anyday.

Just my .02

nothing wrong with liking chevys a little. I dont care for the newer chevys, but the older ones are fair game as far as im concerned. Im a hard core Ford fan, but Chevys are cool too...

Just to clarify, I said the 350, you know the 5.7 with siamesed bores, not the 5.3 Vortec. The 5.3 Vortec is a piece of sh$t. I think that is the major reason that Chevy sales fell since 98/99. That and the 03 redesign. If you look it up, you will see that for several years, Chevy kept up with Ford in total truck sales. If you count GMC (virtually the same vehicle) there were a few years that GM outsold Ford. After 98, sales dropped. Being a former Chevy man, I think that is based on the fact that they threw away our beloved 350 in favor of a smaller, less powerful engine. This new engine does have a piston slap problem, my father had a 00 Chevy Z71 that he had to the dealer about 7 times for excessive engine vibes. They gave him a 7 year/100000 miles powertrain warranty to shut him up. No wonder he got rid of it and bought a Ford.

This should give all you die hard Ford boys a warm fuzzy: I have completely lost all faith with GM. That's right, you read that correctly, I don't think I will ever buy a GM product again. Their quality is worse now than ever, their cars are ugly, they ALL have no power (there are a few exception to the no power thing) and the interiors look like they are made from recycled soda bottles. The sad part is I don't see this changing. Even with Bob Lutz on board, it seems to me that GM could care less what its customers want. They lost me and my 05 F150 is only the 3rd non GM American vehicle I've ever owned. You may say big deal, but I've owned almost 40 vehicles in my life time.

KC-10 FE out...

I'm on nobody's side because I think the internal combustion engine has been around long enough that any manufacture should by now have it down perfect. Today I think even the metal used for the blocks and heads are too soft. I had a Z28 with a 350 that went through camshafts. My mechanic keeps telling me that everything out there is crap. He is old school so I ignore him.

define "engine".

The Hemi should last forever. Its the crap bolted onto it that will break down. Same with Ford, Nissan, Toyota and GM.

Its the little things that cause the whole deck of cards to fall.\

Secondly, "quit pickin' on Triton, it ain't fair" is a crock.

If I spend $40,000 on a truck and the motor does not deliver my expectations of a motor in a $40,000 vehicle, then I have every right to call it *****.
