going electric?

I was thinking about switching to an electrin fan, because I can't find any clutch-equipped fan blades or whatever you wanna call it. The universal ones wont fit. What CFM fan should I get? I've seen some with 400, 650, 880, 1350, and 2175 CFM. I just don't wanna pay too much though, because I'm broke as it is, because I had to buy a new waterpump, and new radiator. And I got new tires (31x10.5) so yeh they are cool. I can't go muddin without a fan though. So yeah, for a 4.9L I6, what would you guys recommend?

I'm new to a conversion like this. On a factory electric fan, the PCM usually sends the commands to turn the fan(s) off, low, mid, high, etc. Since these outputs probably don't exist, how are you going to control them? Let them run all the time? Use a builtin thermometor on the radiator hose?

There are a hand full or so suppliers that sell these for the fords / universal. I ordered a 16" 3630 CFM with a controller, should be here tomorrow, I'm going to TRY to install it in the factory shroud and go from there. But there are kits custom for fords, do a search for e-fans or electric fans. I'm not sure what or how much CFM's the trucks need.

I can't really afford anything over 100$, and I don't want to get one that won't work too well.

You can go to a junk yard and ask for a rf-86 or a fan off a late 90 4.6L stang or some crown vics, do some trimming get a temp controller from a parts store install parts and your good to go.

yeh mechanic told me to just use stock shroud i think they use a 18" fan cheaper that way and when ur going down the highway the shroud helps capture the air

I don't want to get a fan that won't blow enough air, because then my engine will just over heat, and its been gettin in the 50's up here in South Dakota, so I really need a fan, and soon. None of the junkyards have one for a 4.9L, and niether do any of the auto stores. I don't wanna go to Ford to get one, because they'd charge me an arm and a leg.
