Exclamation Need help!!

Ok, so here's the deal. My buddy has a '03 silverado single cab with a 4.8 vortec. Has a few mods consisting of a custom tune, 4.10 gears, thorley tri-Y headers(full exhaust) , K&N CAI and E-Fans.

When I bought my truck, I raced him. I thought i might have a chance having a 5.4 and all... boy was I wrong.. i got my a$$ handed to me. Now all he does is harass me about my "slow a$$ Ford".

What do I need and in what order, to beat him. I would really like to give him a run for his money and eventually whoop his a$$.

Any help will be GREATLY apprecieated!!!

Brian

True duals? Does any one have pics of this...? And does any one know who makes a better mid pipe for our trucks?

Thanks

Intake, chip, maybe some e-fans and underdrive pulleys for good measure.

What gears do you have?

I wish I could just throw a blower on there and be done with it! But I was thinking more along the lines of easy bolt ons. Thanks for the suggestion tho!!

Faster150, with your exhaust setup did have to have a custom mid pipe made to replace your stock Y-pipe? If so, who did you have do it or where can I get one?

if u see the H in it. and he did it himself the muffler guy is talented with a cuttin torch. but i'd recomend checking ebay for some H pipe T fittings if u want it to look pretty. mine has some leaks but nothin major i call it a water release port cause thats all that drips out of it is water

Cool

Not trying to flame here, but most folks will tell you the exhaust system is one of the last places to mod on these trucks.

Pulleys, chip, CAI and electric fans will not only give you better ooomph, but could give you slightly better MPG too.

The majority of folks report lost low-end torque when replacing the factory exhaust, so that would only hurt your off the line performance. Mike Troyer will tell you they dyno tested quite a few exhaust systems and the majority did reduce the low-end torque of their test truck.

Another thing - Chevys are much lighter than your truck, so you are at a bit of a disadvantage in the power/weight ratio already.

Lots of folks like to bash them, but those Vortecs do OK, IMHO... especially in the MPG department.
