At first guess, I'd imagine you might be hearing water running through the heater core, unless you have a physical leak somewhere. But we need more information.

water sounds like its coming from the dash area maybe the heater core? a trickling sound only when i accelerate. anytime of the day. hot or cold. no leaks on the floor or carpets etc. could the haeter core going bad? or clogged hose going into the heater core? heater works fine. truck has 106 hundred k miles on it.

Heard it today....

I heard the trickling water noise for the first time today. I shut the engine off and was gathering up some crap to take in. About 30 seconds after shutoff, it started, and continued for about 30 seconds. My truck only has 18K on it, and coolant is not low. Probably the heater control valve allowing just a little water through. I'm going to see if I can duplicate the problem tomorrow. If I can, I'll call the dealer and ask some questions.

Not likely

This sound was very distinctive. The same sound you'd hear filling a glass up if the stream of water was only 1/8" wide.

Has anything been done to the heater or coolent system, I am wandering if the heater hoses could be reversed? just a thaught. are you shure that the noise is coming from the heater core? does the heater need to be on to hear the noise.
You will have to find a way to installa vacume pump to vacume the air out of the system if that is what it is. You might try to listen for the noise with a long handle screwdriver to see eaxtly wher the noise is coming from. Its hard enough to diag. a noise when you can hear it let alone on the net!!!!
Did you do a search and post on HVAC forum ?

just thinking
Could you be hearing a vacume leak. Try disconecting and pluging the vacume source to the heater system under the hood on the pasenger side.

My 99 5.4 makes this noise everytime I shut it off if I sit and listen for it. Takes a minute or two. It's done it since day one. I just figure coolant was boiling from a hot spot. Only does it for a minute. Been 27000.

There is air in the heater lines that is trapped.
I have not had the fortune to open my trucks system yet but on other cars and truck with conventional caps, I fill then purge the air by using the upper hose as a pump by squeezing it to make the air come to the highest point and find it's way to the filler opening.
I keep doing this as the water level goes down and stop when the system won't take any more coolant.
Works everytime for me.
There is no rule that says the factory can't have air in the system when they fill at the factory, or at a dealer.
