Oil pressure question!

So, I just bought a 2001 Expy XLT 4X4 with the 5.4L. Started it up this morning and had no oil pressure. Tapped the gas pedal, oil pressure came up. Pressure was up for about 10 seconds then dropped again. As soon as the truck idled for about 5 minutes everything was fine. Any ideas? I'm thinking sendor or sender wire connection. There was no lifter rattling when the pressure was low.

As a side note, the truck has been sitting for 13 months. Only 1100 miles in the past 13 months. Maybe a bad filter? Pressure relief valve in the pump??

Also, we found out this morning that we can't direct the heater air to the floor. When the dial is on "Floor" it comes out the defrost vents. But it will go to the panel when that is selected. Anyone know the most likely culprit? Selector switch? Vacuum motor?

Thanks for any input you might have! Love the board!! It's got a lot of great info!!

Ford had problems with oil pressure sending units in many of their 2001 trucks, I would replace the sending unit.
the heater problem sounds a s though you have a vacume leak or stuck heater door if the truck has set for a long time.

Thanks for the heads-up! I was not aware (obviously) that there was a sender problem in the '01 trucks. Thanks again!!
