89 F150 300 Inline 6 problem

Hey everyone,
I am a huge noobie when it comes to cars and trucks so I thought I'd ask around some forums on a problem I'm having..

I have an 89 F150 w/ a 300 inline 6. When ever im going down the road the truck sputters or sounds like it's cutting out. If I'm going and I left off the accelerator it kinda spudders and jerks. It seems to idle and accelerate fine, its only when im "cruising" or left off the accelerator. I just got the truck a few weeks ago w/ approx 150k miles on it. I'm thinking about changing the plugs and wires to see if that helps. Your input is appriciated. Thanks.

sounds like his floats need to be adjusted... if it has any? i know a friend of mine has a 76 firebird, i just put in a new carb for him, a holley 4bbl, and we ran into serious issues with the float adjustment... we had to take it to a shop to get it adjusted, because i didnt have the proper tools for it... he put it on a timing gun, and a vaccum guage...

Well guys, thanks for all the input, before i got around to check this thread, i went ahead and bought new plugs and wires, got the first 3 done (it was about 10 degrees out and my hands about froze, on top of that the last few plugs were a pita to get to...) and so far, i've noticed a good improvement. The old plugs looked rusted and in pretty bad shape. Took it for a road trip tonight and she ran like new.

Again thanks for all the input.

You might also want to check the throttle positioning sensor. It's on the right side of the throttle body. Those symptoms are common with that sensor going out.
