New (have questions)

I may be acquiring a 1992 Ford F-150 Extended Cab 4x4. It has a 5.0L and an auto. It has about 175K miles on it. I want a pickup to haul my 1999 Mustang to and from the drag strip. I think the 5.0 will be a little underpowered to handle this.

How difficult is it to swap in a 5.8L?

What would it take to build roughly 300RWHP out of the 5.0L?

What are some common problems with this year and model?

Thanks.

The 5.8 is a drop in as far as the engine but there will be some other changes like the computer and the differences in equippage of the two engines.
These trucks came with the 5.8 so look at the differences and use a donor truck for all the parts.
I assume there are no state inspection issues.
