Code 1451

new to the site
My check engine light has been on for over a year. my code reader says 1451. I have replaced the gas cap, and still nothing. I know it is an evap code. anyone know anything specific about that code or waht else i should try? I was also told it might just be the computer in the truck. any help would be thankful.

Nothing specific. Just check for vacuum lines off and follow the rubber line from the tank to the evap carbon canister. A visual inspection is always first.

Code P1451 is a canister vent solenoid circuit failure code. To check it you need a scan tool capable of performing active command tests. If you don't have access to one, you can visually inspect the wires that lead to the canister vent solenoid. If no problem is found, you can take a quess and replace the solenoid. It is on the carbon canister that is normally located near the spare tire. This iis NOT an evap leak code, it is a cicuit failure and is electrical in nature, ei. vent solenoid, wiring, pcm.
