vacuum leak

vacuum leak

was just wondering if any one knows the easiest way to check for vacuum leaks on a 302 engine,and clean my iac valve

with a can of starting fluid, or oil in a spray can like WD40 thats less dangerous

Or listen for the hissing sound they make. Using fuel (carb cleaner, propane, etc.) works far better in open loop. Disconnect the electrical connection from one the of O2 sensors between the catalytic converter. Then use propane, an unlit torch will do fine, to probe likely spots for leaks. Aersols work too, they are just messier and a small fire hazard. Around the intake manifold, all the vacuum hoses, around the brake booster. If the idle flares or stays up, you are in the vicinity of a leak. Reconnect the O2 sensor.
