Where is my temp sending unit?

I just bought this 1995 F150 4x4 with a 302 V8. It is very clean except the temperature gauge reads low, between the cold and first normal mark. I have owned a lot of Ford trucks and never had one read that low.

I get plenty of heat when I select that option and it warms up quickly so I assume the thermostat is working just fine.

OK, I thought I would replace the sending unit so I bought one. Now I can't find the thing. Lots of stuff on the newer trucks with lots of cluter. Can anyone tell me where mine is.

I see one right at the thermostat, just to the left, but it has two wires and the sending unit only uses one. I think this is for the engine computer.

The sending unit should have 1 wire. On my 5.0 it is in the lower intake on the driverside at the front.
