Is it a 5.4? Does your oil filter have an anti-drainback valve? Many make this sound; some worse than others.

It is a 5.4L, and it has a regular Fram oil filter on it, like i was saying it just started doing it a week ago and it is only the first start of the day

Swap the oil filter for a Motorcraft FL-820S. See if that helps. The anti-Fram ***** will be certain to chime in soon.

Many 5.4s develop cold start knocking/slap over time......

I don't work on Fords much but I thought the 4.2 and the modulars had a check valve in the engine cover, not in the filter. I'm not challenging, I really don't know. I'm just asking.

Not a hard guess that it's a 5.4 with a Junk filter that does it upon startup. Buy a decent filter with an anti-drainback valve; FL-820S, Mobil1 M210, or K&N. If it still does it after this, you'll probably have to live with it on this version of your engine.

yawr250f- Why confuse him further?

Sorry. Didn't mean to confuse. I really wasn't (and still aren't) sure.
