Advancing the timing on a 5.0?

Who here has advanced the timing on the 5.0 F150? My truck should be at stock timing. I run 87 octane and don't want to use anything higher than that, so how far can I safely advance my timing before it starts to ping?

Your engine is equipped with a knock sensor.
If you advance to far and pay close attention you will hear a brief knock before it automaticly retards the timing then you will lose power until you get out of the throttle and it recovers.
The trick is to keep advancing until you detect this with the gas you run on, then pull it back just under that point..

Oh yeah, I forgot about having a knock sensor. I'm used to the Mustang, which doesn't have a knock sensor. lol

Thanks!
