Hey guys, after reading several posts I did not see this topic, sorry if I missed it.
Bought my 04 in oct. at 320mi the engine died while ideling, at 500 did the same thing, around 800-to-1000 it died several more times while ideling, once while comming to a stop for a red light (no power assist brakes) once while waiting at a red light.
Took it to the dealer at 1242 miles they had it in the shop for about an hour. the mechanic and service tech both came out and advised that there was a "bug" in the idle control .........techinal terms."bla,bla,bla"............ and that they had a re-program for the PCM from ford.
well as of 1400 miles still the rough idle but the engine is not dieing like before. took it back to the dealer and they advised that I'm on a list and that they have seen some trucks not responding to the re-program.
so now what? my wife asks "did they give you the loose ground wire excuse?" I think they did
any thoughts? any one else with a 04 5.4L have to have a re-program of their pcm?
