Help with OBD code

hey guys,
i went to autozone and used the scanner and it came up with a P1450 manufacture controls...Aux emission controls.
now i did the search thing, and only 3 matches came up. anyway, first question is, what is the truck throwing at me, by the way, it is a 99 V8 4.6l Expy, and, is that code a generic code. i saw in a past thread, that that code was for fuel EVAP or something like that. thanks guys, all the best, Willie

"P1450 - Unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum".
Not a generic, It's a mfr. specific code

What this code is saying is that when the system checked the fuel tank and lines the vacume on the system went too high . There are a lot of things that can cause this but the first and most simple thing is the fuel cap there is a check valve that can go bad or become pluged in the cap. Have the cap checked Or replace the cap clear the code and see what hapens . The rest of the tests are quite involved.

Fuel tank testing by the PCM is part of emmissions.
It's just that it is a bit distant from the engine as things go.
The sensor should be located on the top of the tank and is connected to the PCM so it can read the signal.
If the tank is allowed to go to high in vacuum, fuel feed problems could develpe.
Other wise the states and the EPA are sitting on top of this as manditory. That's why is is incorprated into the system test.
By 2008 every maker will have to use the same computer system to run and test all engines. It's call C.A.N. The 05 trucks are using is already.

All kind of possabilities EVAP purge valve, EVAP canister, CV solenoid, pluged CV solenoid filter, FTP sensor, wiring problem, Kinked evap line. YOU will need a manuel and go through the tests in the proper sequence or you will be lost. this does not seem to be an easy one though the cap is the most likely problem.

If you don't have a code scanner or some other way of clearing the code this is the only way to quickly turn the light out. Make shure the keys are out of the igbition, disconect the neg battery terminal turn the headlights on even though they will not light this will drain any residual power that is possably stored in any components and wait about five minutes. turn lights out and re install ground. You will have to reset radio clock etc. you will have to drive truck for a full drive cycle or two before you know if it is fixed. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! hope it's an easy fix.
