Bosch plugs are for the German cars.
Only use motorcraft or autolites.
You wouldn't want to do the plugs twice in a short period.

I think it's a personal preference/lucky thing....... This topic has also been discussed quite a bit too....

I got the Bosch +4's back in 2001 when I got my truck used with 62k miles on it...... This was before I came to this site......

The original plugs were way out of gap spec. All much larger then spec'd..... I didn't want to have to deal with that again, so I got the +4's that don't need to be gapped.....

Well, they are still in and the truck has 137K miles on it now. Not a single miss or popped plug or anything in all this time.

I've read all the posts on them being cr@p and I guess for those that experienced that, they are cr@p.......

I've heard the Autolites have given some owners some issues too....

You would probably have better odds with the Motorcrafts not causing any "issues", but then again, who knows???? I'm sure I'm in the miniority of those that have had good luck with them....

Good luck!

Mitch

NEVER use Bosch plugs in the new modular engines. Stick with Motorcraft. Get em all the time just after a tune up running stupid. Check plugs, and they installed Bosch. Replace with Motorcraft, and don't see the vehicle again for a running problem.

umm ford makes motorcraft so therefore ford make the best of most parts when it comes to their own vehicles just like ACdelco and GM. my dad always told me bosh spark plugs work best in the bottom of a trashcan

I used Bosch plat. plugs in my 2001 4.6 about 6 months ago. The result was horrible missfires that I thought were being caused by bad COP's. After spending $300+ on new coil packs with no results, I finally broke down and tried a set of NGK non-plat plugs. Problem fixed. I can not speak for Motorcraft plugs because I have not used them. I can, however, tell you that the Bosch plugs caused me lots of wasted time and money. I would recommend sticking with Motorcrafts except that they are about $7 per plug. Or, by yourself a good old set of NGK's. You can always trust the Japs to make a good product. Besides, they only cost about $2 per plug. You decide.

im curious why you would go with the ngk no platinum? The factory motorcraft plugs are platinum thats why they are $7.00 each. As far as Bosch I have been running them for about 30,000 miles and had not problems. When I changed my motorcraft factory installed platinums there was nothing wrong with them either just wanted a little change. Good luck

Well i recently installed new plugs and wires. i picked up a pair of wires for $90 and picked up some bosch platium 2 and put them in. things were fine for awhile. now recently my trucks not running so well. i have a k&N intake system and was told today that it was running lean because it was getting more air than fuel. if thats the case i'm not sure what to do.

i'm going to replace the fuel filter and run a tank full of high octane gas through it just in case it has some carbon build up. if that doesnt work maybe you guys can help me out with some ideas.

I think im going to switch over to the motorcraft plugs.

by the way... the problem im having is when i pull a hill or get in the throttle it sounds like someone dumped some marbles in my engine, but when i hit a high gear or not have a load on it it goes away.

Help

it sounds as though your truck might be pinging. this is commen. Have you done any other engine mods. When did you do the intake. Check the top of the engine maybe you knocked somthing loose and it fell off. Plugs and wires should have nothing to do with the knock or ping you are hearing. Fuel filter may help better gas will help if pinging. You can even dump a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank when you fill up. Don't do it often but every once in a while won't hurt.

Well my truck is pretty much stock, but hopefully not for long. anyway i put my intake on a few months back like three or so. the noise that i heard but cant hardly explain started to get worse lately. i put some high octane gas in it and half a pint of sea foam in my gas tack along with it. then the other half in my breather hose. a bit of smoke but no help.

I'm almost willing to do anything to get the sound of bb's or marble out of my engine.

I can tell it isnt running as sharp and strong as it should. I dont feel that i'm getting all my pony's out of it. I'm willing to try anything.

its hard to say without hearing it but I would say pinging. Could be dirty gas. Flush everything in tank and change filter. Hopefully it will help
