The X plan is a purchasing plan that Ford typically offers to employees of companies that provide parts to them. Ford also has other plans that they offer if I remember A plan is best (offered to their own employees)

I think the X plan allows you to buy the vehicle for 3-4% under invoice, plus you can get any incentives (rebates). This is supposed to be a set price, no ****ering, but I have heard of different prices depending on dealer.

we have the x plan available at my job. I have never used it but my boss did when he bought his supercrew fx4 and if I am not mistaken he saved somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000.

x plan is a good deal. The x-plan price is clearly listed on the manufacturers invoice. Any good dealer would be glad to show you. Usually within $100 of dealer invoice. sometimes over sometimes under, but Ford sets this price not the dealer. Occasionally there are even extra rebates or incentives available to an x plan customer. BTW with x--plan dealer is not suppose to charge documentation fees. Title fees only and registration where applicable. This is best used on vehicles like mustang which dealers are not discounting as much as others, otherwise you can get just as good a deal by doing your homework before visiting the dealer.

Hi there,
If I am not mistaken it goes like this:
A-plan price = MSRP - 3%
X plan price = A-plan price + 2.5% + $250
At least it was two years ago,
Alex.

AB, that's not even close. There is no fixed % off anything, MSRP or Invoice. In general, A-Plan is 4-6% under Invoice. X-plan is about 4% over A-Plan.

X-Plan is close to Invoice. Many people can get similar pricing without the program, but they may haveto haggle.

APT,
Thanks for correcting me. Yes, it's based on invoice.
I have x-plan also. That's what I found on my web site:

Please be advised that effective with vehicles delivered on May 1, 2002 and after, X-Plan program pricing will be revised as follows:
Ford & Mercury Products: $150 Increase
Calculation: (A-Plan + 4% + $150)
Lincoln Products: $250 Increase
Calculation: (A-Plan + 4% + $250)

X-Plan Price on Dealer Invoice
Begining with vehicles invoiced on April 28, 2002 and after, the X-Plan price will appear on the dealer's copy of the vehicle invoice. This price can be compared to the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) plus any other applicable incentives to determine total X-Plan savings.

BTW, Mazda also included.
Alex.

I will give my limited experiance. My wife works for an X-plan company (Compaq at the time). In 2002 we were looking at the Explorer based pickup. We went to a local dealer, across the hwy from Compaqs world headquarters. They gave $500 over invoice. Called the fleet salesmen from another dealer. They gave me $500 under invoice with no x-plan required. Ended up with a F150 Screw for $1000 more than the Sporttrak.

So as others said, you can get as good a deal without the x-plan as you can with it. In some cases better. Last year my wife had twins, we got her a YukonXL. It was a previous sold unit that the financing fell thru. It had under 1000 miles. We got it for $4000 (plus $6500 rebate) under invoice. In December I bought me a 2004 F250 crew lariat PSD, I got full KBB for my trade and $3000 (plus $3000 rebate) under invoice.

Now those 2 autos are special conditions, but they are there.
