engine HP and TQE specs?

I'm looking for a 2000 or 2001 Expedition. I know I have two engines to look at. I've driven a 2000 with the 4.6 and was surprised with the power. I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew with the 5.4 and use it to tow our 4000 lb camper with no problems.

My main dilema is, do I save the money, go with the 4.6 and add a computer chip, K&N and Exhaust vs. getting the 5.4 and doing a chip and the K&N.

We'll tow the camper maybe 8-10 times a year with the Expedition, usually no more than 200 miles each way.

Also, are there any mechanical issues/problems that I should know about with the 2000 and 2001 Expeditions?

Thanks All.
Patrick

Patrick, the 4.6 will tow 4000 lbs. easy enough. If you are are really interested in saving money why are you buying the add on stuff?

The 4.6 will tow the 4000 lbs, but don't expect it to pull like your 5.4. I've owned both motors and the 5.4 is a lot better pulling heavier loads. I consider 4000 lbs, getting heavy. I'm not sure if the Expy comes with the tow package or not, but make sure all the fluids are up to snuff and you have a tranny cooler.
