Question anyone do a 4.6L head cam upgrade?

I finally made that last payment on my 1998 4x4 XLT w/4.6L V8 several months ago and am looking to upgrade the top end of my motor. Has anyone done this and what results/suggestions do you have?

I have 123K and the motor has only run full synthetic oil since the 1st change. I am running the K&N FIPK, Magnaflow cat back exhaust, superchip, ported throttle body, & MSD coils. It is my belief that I can do just the top end of the motor (probably ready for a valve job @ 123K) and I am considering the Patriot Performance Stage II heads see them here:

I will get all new valves, retainers, rockers, and springs.

and one of the Comp Cams; either the XE262H or XE262AH cams. See them here: http://www.powerandperformancenews.c...y_Code=102-CAM

My end goal is to drastically improve bottom end thru mid range as the top end is still very strong. The truck is a daily driver, and sees off road action regularly, and a trailer may be in its future as well.

Please give me your opinions and thoughts...

JHL - I didn't swap cams, but I did put ported/polished PI heads on my '98. I'm very happy with the results and wish I would have done it sooner.

You can click on the link in my sig for more details of what I did.
