I have a 1999 Ford F-150 4.2L V6 4x4 and I want to know what motor swap into my truck. I need to know years of what that will work. I either want to do a 5.4L or a 5.4L supercharged. I want to keep the truck 4x4. What will also need to be changed in terms of trans mission transfer case and rear end

 

The 4.2 has the same bolt pattern as the 5.0 V8. If you want to switch to a modular motor you will need a new tranny. You will also need a new PCM and harness (engine and tranny). The 4.2 doesn't have neither the drivers nor the extra wires to manage extra cylinders. Get a 4R70w from a 4x4 truck and it should have the T-case adapter attached. Once you decide which engine you want let me know and I will let you know what else you will need.
