Possible power loss

My 98 4.6 has about 105K on it. It is completely unmodded except a k & n. This truck has always been "Honda slow" since I have owned it, cant get out of its own way! but when I first got it, when I would take off or turn a corner, it would spin the tires, it hasnt for quite some time now. My brother, a mechanic, at work was working on a Lariat edition with the same engine as mine and he barley touched the gas and it spun the tires. What do you suggest? A good tune up... Maybe some fresh plugs and wires should do the truck?

Are you running regular octane fuel?
Is the computer logging any error codes?
Have you tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a while?
Have you examined the spark plugs?

I run 93 octane all of the time. I haven't checked the plugs. And there are no codes being thrown at the time. Once I had the SES light on because of the gas cap, but cleared that out with an OBD II

Why are you running high octane? The engine isn't calibrated to use it. My suggestion is to run 87 octane and reset the ECU.

Change the front O2 sensors. They need to be changed at the veryleast every 50K.
You will not find this little tit-bit anywhere in the manual. If thay are the OEM plugs and wires then they need to go too.

If the computer is not throwing codes, do still suggest chaning the upstream o2 sensors? How har are they to get to and change?

Change the O2 senser at least every 50K.
It will not throw a code untill it degrades enough to make the truck runlike crap.

This may or may not help but the MAF on my mom's '94 Grandmarquis went bad and the car never threw a code, it just ran like dookie. The symptoms were very poor performance and lowered fuel economy. That may be something you also want to check out.

I've read, but it may be a bunch of hooey, that K&N filters, because of the way you oil them have an increased tendency to release the oil so it gums up the MAF. I'm not sure if it's true or not, but it's something to consider.
