1999 5.4 rough idle and stalling

1999 5.4 rough idle and stalling
tried the search engine to find my particular problem and didnt find anything so thought i would try here.
just picked up 1 99 f-150 4X4 w/ the 5.4 motor. after about 2 weeks the motor has a miss or something, you can feel it sitting behind the wheel at idle and the tach does go back and forth a little. This last weekend after driving it awhile i pulled into a parking lot and the idle went down to around 300 rpm's almost died then surged to about 1200 which forced me to smash on the brakes as to not wipe out pedestrians. this happened like 3 or 4 times over the weekend, anyone ever had this problem and what did you do to fix it.

Haven't had you exact problem but if you do a search using my user name "36racin" you will find a topic started by myself that has more rough idle information than you will probably want to sit down and read. Some fixes work for some trucks and some don't. Good luck
