The TAB valve has a feed from the air pump. The other line goes to a diverter valve called a TAD.
The TAB does two things. It passes air to the TAD diverter or vents the air to atmosphere.
The TAD either passes the pump air to exhaust passages in the heads and manifolds or directs it to the cat convertor, at the direction of the computer.
