f150 well maintained with bad hesitation

I own a dark blue 1999 Ford F150 XLT pick up. I have owned the truck now for about three years. I have always kept up with all of my maintenance. Oil changes. belts, tire rotations. brakes, fuel filters, air filters. About three months ago i started getting a hesitaion under aceleration. So i thought what any good ford owner would. Time for a tune up. i replaced the spark plugs and cleaned the fuel injectors. This did not help so i checked out the plug wires and found they were ok but i changed them anyway. with no luck i still have the problem. next i thought i got a tank of bad gas so i installed another fuel filter and changed the gas. still no luck. Has anyone else ran into this problem. If so how do i fix the problem.

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body intake as well as the EGR ports? If not kept clean, this could lead to plenty of hesitation. Do a search and you will find many previous posts concerning the cleaning, as well as using Seafoam.

Hey badmax101,

The EGR is located on the right hand side of the throttle body as you face the engine from the front of the truck. You can use carb. cleaner to clean the EGR once it is removed. If you have the 4.6L engine, you might want to remove the entire throttle body so you can clean the EGR ports which get clogged with carbon. You will need a large adjustable wrench and 10MM deep well socket to get the two bolts out of the EGR mounting flange.
