Self Scanning Computer???

I work at the Chrysler dealership (don't hate me I still drive Ford)
And I noticed something really Awesome. On a chrysler from 99-present, If you cycle the key three times, It will flash the code on the dashboard! It will actually say "p-***" Its pretty interesting, I thought! Does Ford have anyhthing like this? And if so, How do I use it? Because my trucks got a CEL! Thanks!

i know some of the older fords had it but i don't know how to activate it.its ok to work for chrysler, you get more business that way. you might wanna try gettin a shop manual and it might say somethin in there about it.or just try cycling the key different ways.

The newer fords with the digital odometer had a way you could run through all kinds of trouble codes and other diagnostics, but I think the trouble codes were not your standard OBDII codes.

no,that's not what i mean.some older model vehicles had real self diagnostic systems.you cycle the ignition switch different ways and the check engine light would blink to let you know its activated and then blink so many times for the first number then stop and the second and so on.but you still had to find out what the codes are.and your truck is obd I so you can't use an obd II scanner.i'm sure it would say somethin about it in a chilton's manual for your truck, which are very handy if you don't have one.

I looked at the dash disply information and it does work on my 02 F150.
Would someone look at the test sequence called bAtt and tell me if there is a line of info missing?
Between the line (115-124) and the line
(215-225).
My test shows 130. That should be correct for about 14 volts +/- and is within a range not listed.

You sure '94 is OBDII? I thought '96 was the first year.

It was Governement regulated and obligatory as of 96 models, but some manufactures jumped on the bandwagon earlier.

1994,

Try the rangerstation. They have the procedure for OBDI fords.

Here is the link;

It worked for me!

Last night, I tried the trick by holding in the Trip/odometer button in when turning the ignition to "ON", and a few seconds later, "TEST" came up in the odo section. It cycled trough all the options like the earlier Links Stated

I do have an ODBII code reader, but this is also kind of nice.

dpostman,

The odometer trick is nice if you want to see how fast you are going when you are over 100mph. It will only give you DTCs for the instrument cluster. It will not give you any others. It is useless for trying to diagnose engine codes.
