help with installing coil cap

I have been having problems with my 2001 F150 running sluggish and went to Autozone today after reading several post on here and they told me #8 was not firing. I bought the coil pack and I got the old one out which is a pain the rear to get to. Now I can't get the new one to go all the way in. It acts like it doesn't want to fit down over the plug. I have gotten it to about 1-1 1/2 inches from being fluch with the head but can't get it any further and need your guys help? Is there an easier way to install it? ie,. disconnecting certain hose?

Thanks

i don't remember what all i take off to change mine, but you can take the fuel rail off and that really helps on the driver side.its really not neccesary on the passenger.if you have a 5.4 you'll have to take the egr tube off to get the fuel rail out of the way and that takes a 1 1/8 wrench if my memory serves me correctly.just be careful with the fuel rail you definitely don't wanna get any crap off in the injector holes.sometimes cop's are a pain but after a while you'll finally get it right and it'll just slide right on.just keep at it,you'll get the hang of it.

have you used a mirror to look down in the hole to make sure part of the old boot didnt stay down in there?

Also use dielectric grease on the new boot to help it go on.

Good luck
