65k mile maint???

hey everyone again...another stupid ? by me ok my truck is nearing the 65000 mile mark and im wondering what things need to be changed out or checked? im only asking because my shop manual had a disagreement with my dog and well the dog won. So far i changed tranny fluid and filter, have a newer aftermarket intake and exhaust, changed oil and filter, looked to see if any anti freeze was gone and it was right at the level it needs to be. I cleaned out the vacum lines wtih seafoam and put the rest in the gas tank. Anything im missing that a home mechanic can do with out special tooks? fuel filter??? timing or anything? coils and plugs?

Hello racerf150man,

When my 2000 Lariat had 65K, I replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses and the thermostat. I also changed my rear differential fluid at the same time. And if you haven't already done so, the PCV valve and fuel filter should be replaced as well.

I am not sure what temp the stock thermostat is, I just replaced mine with a new OEM one. It was not that expensive, maybe $6-$8 and the quality seamed much better that the aftermarket thermostat's I looked at.

As a note, if you plan on adding electric fans to your truck, you would want to keep the stock temp thermistat.
