2001 supercrew 5.4 wet engine

2001 supercrew 5.4 wet engine

I washed my engine now its running like crap,checked the plugs and dryed everything out and still runs bad,engine light comes on and off.

Check the connectors to the coils and the injectors. If you got water in them it will casue your problem. I would also check the plug boots. Water can leak past them and casue havoc if it is not removed. FYI I have dielectric grease on all the connectors in my engine compartment.

Not a good idea to wash your engine. Water [steam] will get into all electronics and mess them up.

I get a few a month that need work after they wash down the engine.

Leave it dirty..

A lot of us wash our engines regularly with no problems. You just need to be careful especially if you use a high pressure wash. Do not fill spark plug wells with water and soak you coils etc.

If you are still having a problem, check the trottle position sensor. I had water leak into mine and it would not shift at the appropriate nornal shift points and ran like crap.
