2006 rumor...

Heard that 06 F150 might possible have 6 cylinder 4.5L DIESEL power from International. Pending resolution of current recall issues of 6.0L PowerStroke in HD lineup. Also hearing Ford looking at different vendors for this powerplant due to above issues. Any commments?.....

Rumor?

I've read the same thing, although I have not seen anything that I believe came from Ford on the subject.

Yeah, nothing from Ford. It was in an aftermarket vendors "ride report" they did on a 05 F150 FX4 Super Crew. Curious what it would do to bolster tow/payload capacities.... .

wont be before 2007.

This is when the new, sulphur-free diesel fuels will be available.

Notice how most manufacturers are holding off on the diesel options?

Wait until 07/08 and you will see more diesels being made available in more models (trucks, SUV's, cars...)

Be it known that Jeep is putting a 2.8L in the Liberty this coming year. So hopefully we will see the snowball effect.

Sure would be nice to have a smaller 1/2 ton sized PU, I really don't need the behemouth of the 250/350's. I would rather have the fuel economy.

I had also heard that NISSAN is planning a Diesel. I would bet you would see a diesel in the Titan before the F150. That's just my opinion(which doesn't count for much)

I would trade off for a diesel F150 in a heartbeat. I miss my PowerStroke, and love my SuperCrew. That would be as good as it gets for me!!!!!

rumor is that Ford has had discussions with other engine makers (other than Navistar).

Because Ford paid to get out of the 4.5 Powerstroke deal, they are open to other engine makers.

Names have included Caterpillar, John Deere and apparently Cummins. The Cummins thing is based on the rumor that Dodge will go to Benz diesels when the Cummins contract expires.

How true any of this is, we will have to wait and see.
