Where is the recall??

If Ford is well aware of 5.4L engines spitting out their plugs, why has there not been a recall. I have read in other threads about a class action suit for the "piston slap" issue, is there a possibility that there will be one for spitting plugs?

Ford will not own up to nothing. It's like pulling teeth. I go in and complain about blue smoke or a clunk noise etc, and it doesn't matter which dealership you try, they are all the same. Everything your truck is doing is NORMAL. I am starting to really hate that word. Don't even get me started on tie rods. If your'e like me and can't work on your truck except oil changes, you are pretty much screwed. If mine blows a plug, I will get it fixed as cheap as possible, sell it, and end this Ford nightmare.

If Ford were to own up to all the problems, they'd go broke like I'm going broke trying to keep this POS on the road. Since I bought my truck I've been reading this site and hearing about the common problems...but never thought I'd end up having most of them. With 55K miles on my truck I have had door cracks, door rust, tailgate rust, U-joint replaced, ball joints replaced, rear brakes replaced, starter replaced, two solenoids for the 4 wheel drive replaced, and I'm debating if I want to replace the cracked exhaust manifold or not. Since only the doors and tailgate had issues before it was 3 years old, the other repairs have been paid by me.

i have been debating on writing a letter to ford. my truck has 42,000 , thought it had tranny problem, come to find out that it is in the coil system. 42,000 thousand miles!!! and the check engine light never came on. i had a extensive dyno check to figure that out. the ford dealership couldnt find it. all they do is collect the money and screw ya

The deal with not having a recall is that most of these trucks don't have those problems. It'd be different if every truck put out had them like the door cracks. Since that wasn't life threatening or really dangerous, Ford didn't recall for it, but they did fix it if your truck was under warranty, if you didn't get the standard you pay 20% deal like a bunch of people got.

Most trucks don't HAVE all the problems, but they are ALL at risk of blowing a plug, a door crack, a head gasket problem, premature rust, leaking rear window, driveline clunk, piston slap, etc, etc. The fact that it is only happening to a small number compared to what is out there is irrelevent in my opinion. They are all built basically the same and can experience the same problems as the next truck at any time! I realize Ford will never make it "right", but they are design flaws whether they own upto it or not.

I myself am literally going broke from mine. Right now it's got a dead motor (2nd blown plug and water in oil, it seized). Another 4 grand into this thing. I love driving the truck, but I can't stand to put any more work, money and heartache into mine. I'm selling it after I fix it AGAIN. I might not be so bitter if they would at least help those that have the problem. I don't expect them to replace the heads on every suspect motor, but if it has blown a plug, fix the damn thing for the poor bastard who's getting screwed! They don't even offer a fix except for a whole new $1450 dollar head, which is probably still defective!!!!
