I have a 4.6 XLT with the tow package I have a 130 amp alternator.
I think it depends on the package that was with the truck.

for future reference you might wanna check the brushes and everything if it goes out again.mine's gone out twice and i had to buy a new one the first time cause i couldn't find parts to rebuild it,but o'reiley's can get brushes and a voltage regulator for it.i think it was like 30 bucks for the regulator and 20 for brushes.its an easy fix and saves you alot of money.i know the 130 amp came with the towing package, but it might've come with other packages too.

It does'nt matter which amperage you go with. The regulator limits the output to no more than 15 volts regardless. The higher amp alternator will have more available power if you plan on adding any accessories and need the higher output.
