4.2 to 4.6 engine swap

Hi,

As you all probably know from reading my post on the transmission that I needed to get it rebuilt. Anyways, I have a general question about swapping my engine from a 4.2 to a 4.6. How hard would it be to swap? I have read on Ford Truck Enthusiast, another forum that I am a member of, that my 4R70W tranny is different from the 4R70W used on a V8. Would the bolt pattern be different? I have read that the tranny used on the V6 is one to avoid. I was just wondering what the process would be if my current engine dies later on down the road.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

The bolt pattern on the 4.6 is not the same as the 4.2. You will need a new tranny.
